The alternative Ballistic Cordura padded foam case for Kovea Observer lanterns, Snow Peak Giga-power lanterns, Fire Maple lanterns (or anything to a similar size).

This little beauty was initiated by Gavin- our lightweight (border-line obsessed) enthusiast.

All you need is a piece of closed cell foam (better for long term durability) or bubble wrap, an elastic band and a $3 pouch from in-store.

1) place your lantern on the foam and cut a piece out the height of your lantern.

2) roll the lantern along 1 full revolution, add 1cm and cut.

3) wrap this around your lantern, and put the rubber band around. the fatter the band, the longer the life and less chance it has of breaking on the trail.

4) this should now fit perfectly in your case- use the lid zip-compartment to store spare mantles.
